  • Assisted in major transfer of archival materials from the Texas State Archive to the Legislative Reference Library. Labeled and organized materials for transfer to off-site storage. Performed basic collection inventories. Created survey of existing inventories and finding aids.
  • Perform genealogy research for the completion of the Legislators Past and Present database. Use FamilySearch, Ancestry, Newspapers.com, Portal to Texas History and other digital and print sources to trace the birth and death dates, military records and other biographical information for former members of the Texas Legislature.
  • Inmate Letters Program Coordinator: Receive, track and respond to letters received by incarcerated patrons. Conduct legislative history research, coordinate payments. Coordinated with supervisor to rewrite inmate letter program manual.
  • Interlibrary Loan Coordinator: Work with other libraries to provide patron accesss to materials not owned by the LRL. Request loans and journal article access, track loaned materials, coordinate returns and renewals, maintain account status with outside lending institutions.
  • Reference Duties: Work in person, over the phone and through e-mail to assist library patrons with questions on Texas law, legislative history, and other queries. Perform legislative intent and legislative history research as needed. Assist patrons in the use available tools for conducting legislative research in Texas.
  • Digitized library Legislative Committee Minutes collection. Used book scanner and Adobe Creative Suite to capture, edit, add metadata and FTP to library website. Captured and archived digital handouts preserved by Texas House committees. Worked collaboratively to create workflow and metadata standards for the collection. Received yearly bonus for speed and quality of digitization work.
  • Led design and implementation of 'Accessibility Project' to meet national accessibility guidelines under Section 508. Conducted research, created workflow and naming conventions, worked remotely to train workers to process pdfs for accessibility.
  • Assisted in maintenance and growth of the Legislative Archive System, a database of bills published in Texas 1850s-present. Receive historic records from state archives; treat, humidify, press and scan bills; enter pdfs into database, identify keywords and enter captions.
